Connect a bank or card
Go to Banking and choose Connect a bank. Columnwell gets read-only access to activity and balances; it can never move money and never sees your bank password.
Steps
- Open Banking from the menu.
- Choose Connect a bank, find your bank, and sign in to it in the secure window that opens.
- Pick the accounts Columnwell may see. Activity and balances start arriving within a few minutes.
- If an account belongs to a company, assign it to that company so its transactions reach those books.
- Credit union not listed? Use the SimpleFIN steps on the same page instead: connect your banks in SimpleFIN, create a setup token, and paste it into Columnwell.
Good to know
- One sign-in to a bank covers every account you have there.
- If a bank asks you to sign in again, Banking shows a Reconnect button on that connection.
- Disconnecting stops syncing and deletes the stored bank credential. Activity already brought in stays in your books.
- No live feed? You can upload bank and card statements (CSV, OFX or QFX) on Documents.

Ask the Assistant inside Columnwell. It answers from these pages and can look at your own books. You can also read the FAQ.
